If God Is So Big, Is It Possible to Have a Relationship With Him?
You can have a relationship with God. That is the message of the Scriptures from end to end. God made us and desires to have a relationship with us. Who changed? Not God.
Man forced the estrangement with his rebellion in the Garden of Eden and since that time our race has generally perpetuated it, running from God and not returning to Him. The message of the Bible is to reveal to us the glory and goodness of God and to show us what God has done to reconcile us to Himself. Sin has put a great guilt between man and God, but the Father in Heaven allowed His Son to come into the world to reveal God to us in the flesh and to manifest His love for His creatures by laying down His life on a Roman cross to atone for all our sin.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him might not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
“As many as received Him, God gave the right to become the children of God (!), as many as believed in His name.” (John 1:12)
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with Me.” (Revelation 3:20)
“He who has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is who loves Me…”
And “he who loves Me,” Jesus said, “shall be loved by My Father, and I will love Him, and will disclose Myself to him.” (John 14:21)
That answers the question as does this: “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8)
