Affiliation and Governance

Officially Conservative Baptist and affiliated with Southern Baptist. Not overtly connected with either. Lake is “staff led and elder protected.” Senior pastor is a non voting member of the Elder board. We have 2 pastoral staff and a number of directors and ministry leaders.

Congregation Makeup

A varied mix of attendees from very young to older, though we tend to the older side. We are used to expository teaching each week and very receptive to that. Our vision as stated: a healthy sanctuary for the spiritually deprived and depleted, a beacon of truth and good works in our community, a staging area for the rescue of the lost, an intellectual armory for the edification of the saints.

Our Facility

Lake Bible Church was founded in 1979. It is located in Lake Oswego, Oregon which lies about 10 miles south of Portland, Oregon. Its population is about 40,000. The church is ideally located just off of Interstate 5 at the intersection of Carman Dr. and Kruse Way and draws its membership and attendance from many of the communities in the south metro area Portland. Membership is about 180 with regular attendance just over 200 each Sunday. The building is about 62,000 sq. ft. and sits on about 10 acres. The operating budget is just over $1M and there is no outstanding debt on the building.

Senior Pastor Position

The Senior Pastor role is a cornerstone for Lake Bible. Aside from strong personal belief and convictions that align to the vision and mission of the church, the senior pastor must be a seasoned leader with a strong people orientation who can set vision as well as execute it. Within the Biblical structure set forward for churches, the Senior Pastor will work closely with the Elder Board, will coach and develop pastoral staff, will maintain fiscal oversight and will shepherd the congregation through both preaching and personal connection.

We are seeking a servant-leader with a true calling to ministry to grow and develop the hearts of His people through deep Biblical knowledge that focuses on application. A Senior Pastor who has the charisma to lead but is equally comfortable as teacher and mentor, grounded in prayer and learning, will be essential.

Preferred Qualifications

Education

A bachelor’s degree required while a masters of divinity degree from an accredited Theological Seminary is preferred.

Experience

Previous Senior Pastor experience is strongly preferred and should include:

Demonstrated leadership skills, successful history leading and developing teams
Committed to and able to demonstrate giftedness in expository preaching
